Frater Shawn was initiated in the Lambda-Delta Chapter at the University of Southern Maine in 1985, where he served as Grammateus, Epiprytanis, and 2-terms as Prytanis. Shawn complimented his undergraduate stewardship with interfraternity leadership as the President of the Interfraternity Council and was the first Teke elected to the Northeast Interfraternity Council Conference as Secretary; now called the Northeast Greek Leadership Council.

TKE has help shape Shawn’s commitment to public service. The Frater has served on many local, state and national boards including the University of Southern Maine’s Alumni Association Board of Directors, President of the Portland Lions Club, Board Member with Volunteers of America Northern New England Council, and Camp Fire for Boys and Girls – Camp Ketcha, National League of Cities Council on Youth, Education and Families, the National League of Cities Community & Economic Development Advisory Council. For nearly 25 years, Shawn has served the American Legion Department of Maine, as a member of the Dirigo Boys State staff, and had served as the Deputy Director of the Program for the last 8 years.

Shawn is the 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award recipient. As a TKE Volunteer, Shawn has held numerous alumni leadership roles including attending several Regional Leadership Conferences, Province Educational Conferences, the Alumni Volunteer Academy and Regional Planning Conferences. He has served on several Chapters’ Board of Advisors; including service as Chairman, and as a District Vice President, Province Advisor and most recently as the Michael J. Morin Province Grand Province Advisor. Shawn enjoys his membership in area alumni associations including the Greater Boston TKE Alumni Association and as the TKE Northeast Ironmen Alumni Association’s President. During the 2007-2009 Biennium, Frater Shawn served as a member of the Grand Council’s Education’s Committee’s Sub-Committee on Province Educational Conferences, and was the first Chairman of the TEF’s Foundation Ambassadors Program.

In 2008, Shawn was re-elected to his third three-year term as an At-Large City Council member, and is a former Chairman of the Council. Shawn previously served his community as a member of the Board of Education and as the County’s Budget Committee Chairman.

Professionally, Shawn is a Senior Vice President for the U.S. Small Business Portfolio Division of TD Bank and has offices in Burlington Massachusetts and Cherry Hill New Jersey. Shawn serves on several industry boards and advisory groups that focus on small business and entrepreneurial services. He is a proud donor to the TKE Educational Foundation at the life time giving level of the Scholars Society and a pledge towards the Commitment to Excellence Campaign, a Life Loyal Teke member and was admitted into the Order of the North. He, his wife Terry and daughter Olivia reside in Scarborough, ME.
