Run For Reagan Concept

  • The Run For Reagan ia a 5-mile relay race organized by your chapter or colony.

  • The race should be conducted on a track (indoor or outdoor). A standard track is 1/4 mile, which means that you need 20 people to each complete a lap around the track for the 5-mile race.

  • It is not important to run the relay. Participants can run, walk, jog, etc. If your chapter cannot supply 20 people, ask teachers, girlfriends, sororities, other fraternities, BOA members, etc. to participate. Those who are not collegiate members need to complete a simple permission slip.

  • Each paricipant carries, then handoffs to the next participant, a horseshoe with a purple ribbon attached. This signifies the partnership between TKE and the Alzheimer's Association.

  • Every participant is asked to raise $20. As a guide, we suggest asking $5 from a parent, $5 from a friend, $5 from a teacher, and $5 from the participant.

  • 20 participants raising $20 each is $400 for the Alzheimer's Association. If each chapter and colony were to participate, we would raise over $100,000 through the Run for Reagan.

  • In addition to donations, your chapter is going to seek sponsorships to help offset the cost of organizing the race: t-shirts, rental fee, water, etc.
