World-Renowned Boxer Roy Jones, Jr. Becomes a Member of Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity is pleased to announce that it initiated World-Renowned Boxer Roy Jones Jr. on Thursday, August 16 in Pensacola. Jones' name has been added to the long list of prominent men who are proud members of TKE, including the late President Ronald Reagan, Former NAACP President Bruce Gordon, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, and Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli.
When asked about his reasons for joining, Jones said, "This organization doesn't care about a person's worth or what a person has or even what he looks like because all that fades away in life. The thing that doesn't fade is a person's character. You can't get character or take it from someone, you have to learn it and develop that throughout your life. I hope people look back on my life and say that I was a man of great character, the basis of this organization."
Roy Jones Jr. has had a storied boxing career and is looking towards his next test against Felix Trinidad, announced on Monday. Jones began his boxing prowess as an amateur in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, Korea leaving with a controversial silver medal. He has gone on to hold titles for the WBC, WBA, IBF, WBF, IBO, NBA, and IBA light heavyweight championships, all at the same time. Jones was named the "Fighter of the Decade" for the 1990s by the Boxing Writers Association of America. He will put his professional record, 51-4, to the test as he contends against Felix Trinidad.
