RLCs Roll Through Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Tekes converged on Kansas City, Missouri to kick off the second Regional Leadership Conference of the season. The registration table was constantly busy and the welcome reception officially opened the symposium. They next moved into the ritual workshop and formal ritual of the Fraternity.

Frater Daniel Heldt of Alpha-Xi Chapter at Drake University said, "This session helped clarify the correct way to do ritual, and why it is so important to do it once per month. I also got the opportunity to see that we are very close to doing the ritual the right way and that we can now go back to our chapter and perfect this great part of being a teke."

One of the other significant parts of the RLC season is seeing the Fraternity is much bigger than just an individual chapter. These provide the ideal environment to network, share ideas, and gain even more teke friends. Frater Daniel said he really enjoyed this part of the experience.

"We got the chance to roam the hallways Friday and Saturday night meeting guys from all around the region," said Frater Daniel. "Being from Iowa, it was a great chance to meet guys from as far away as Texas and build relationships with many Fraters from around the Midwest. We had the opportunity to see many similarities and differences between how we run our chapters and how they run theirs. I think that this is really going to help improve our chapter when we get back to campus. It was great to meet new friends and we now plan on traveling to some of these chapters and holding joint events."

Saturday kicked off learning sessions starting at 9AM that ranged from Chapter Operations to Officer Round-ups to Volunteer Training. Saturday afternoon was filled with Recruitment training with the "Legend" Frater Buckwheat Perry and introducing one of TKE's new philanthropic endeavors, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital . In the evening, Fraters were treated to a banquet featuring keynote speaker Frater Ernie Ernest (Beta-Mu, Bucknell Univ.).

There are still three more opportunities to make a Regional Leadership Conference , but space is filling up quickly. San Francisco , Indianapolis , and Philadelphia are still open. Don't miss out by registering today. Get your officers, future chapter leaders and new members signed up. We can't wait to see you there.
