Even Wicked Weather Cant Stop Fraters Good Works

LORETTO, Penn. - St. Francis University Fraters (Delta-Phi Chapter) held its third annual Polar Bear Swim at Lake St. Francis on the campus Thursday in Loretto. The first year this event raised $500, last year they raised $3,100. At the time of the event, more than $4,000 had been raised. The group stripped down to swim trunks (and a few t-shirts) in negative temperature wind chills. The event benefited the Ronald & Nancy Reagan Alzheimer's Research Institute. Fraters John Burkett (back left), D.J. Miller and Erik Hums take the plunge as Brian Frankowski (foreground) reacts after his jump.

In the Summer 2008 edition of The TEKE, these Fraters were awarded several awards from TKE and the university. For TKE, Delta-Phi received Awards for Community Service, Alumni Relations, Academic Success, and Extracurricular Activities, as well as Honorable Mentions in Recruitment Results and Chapter Size. At the annual President's Award Convocation, they received the Top Greek Chapter on campus and Outstanding Greek Member Award (Frater Joe Smorto). The following week they took first place in Greek Week.

The Offices of the Grand Chapter extend a heartfelt congratulations to the men of Delta-Phi.
