SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The City by the Bay hosted Tekes from along the West Coast of the United States for the Greg and Cay Woodson Regional Leadership Conference. The third of five RLC's, the Gold Rush state gathered about 100 (the largest gathering since adding the venue in 2006). The registration table was very busy and the welcome reception officially kicked things off. They moved right into the ritual workshop and formal ritual of the Fraternity.

Saturday kicked off learning sessions starting at 9AM that ranged from Chapter Operations to Officer Round-ups to Volunteer Training. Saturday afternoon was filled with Recruitment training from Fraters John Deckard and Bryston Cutter. In addition, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was introduced as a new philanthropic endeavor. Frater David Wood (Alpha-Gamma, Washington State Univ.) said the speakers were very helpful and never talked over their head. He enjoyed his session on leadership most of all. "I enjoyed my session with Frater Matt Previts (Upsilon-Alpha, Spring Hill College) who discussed different leadership styles. He talked about it in a way that seemed very practical and simple. I will now be able to take this information back to my chapter and apply it as Hypophetes or any other role I pursue."The RLC was a positive experience for Frater David, who said he could take something from each experience and apply it. "The workshops were great with many discussions on a variety of topics like how guys at other chapters organize events and run meetings. There just seemed to be so much to learn. The presenters did a great job and were fantastic to observe." In the evening, Fraters were treated to a banquet featuring keynote speaker Frater John Phillips (Nu, Univ. of California - Berkeley), a member of the Teke Educational Foundation Board.

There are still two more opportunities to make a Regional Leadership Conference, but space is filling up quickly. Indianapolis and Philadelphia are still open. Don't miss out by registering today. Get your officers, future chapter leaders and new members signed up. We can't wait to see you there.
