Why Are You Calling Me?

Why Are You Calling Me?

Some of the Chapter Services StaffINDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Over the weekend, members of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Professional Staff (some pictured to the right) will be putting in some extra hours in the office talking to chapters and colonies. Why would they spend an additional 48 hours at the Offices of the Grand Chapter? The goal is to reach out to members, collegiate and volunteer, seeing if they need any help and check how things are going. There are so many big reasons for this call, it’s hard to detail them all – the main points are below.

Sounds simple, right? These are not difficult nor some "Nationals" guy making sure you aren’t getting in trouble. We want to know what great things you have been doing this semester. What can you expect on a typical call?

"Checking on candidates recruited for the spring semester, challenging them that recruitment is never over and it’s still not too late in the year to recruit more members – checking service/ philanthropy reports filed this year, asking if grade reports for fall semester have been released, and more," said Frater Nat Sheppard, Associate Regional Director for the South.

Why are these calls important? In many cases, especially during the transition to new officers, chapters and colonies are not sure how to appropriately register their new members and the expectations of timely registration that are placed on them. The OGC may also need to update our records with the new officer corps.

It is also vital to get your candidates in the Membership Maintenance Module immediately. Are we looking to collect the fees faster? Getting the names on our records is the most important task. As soon as a candidate’s name is entered into the database, he is covered by TKE’s insurance policy In addition, a candidate that has paid his candidate fee is 82% more likely to initiate than one who has not paid the candidate fee.

Presidents, Treasurers, New Member Educators, or any chapter officer should expect the call over the weekend. These are not hour long calls, unless you want them to be. The essential part is that we have a chance to connect with one of the collegiate members, so he can tell the rest of the officers any important messages.

The OGC works for you. The world’s largest fraternity would not be where it is today without each of you. We want to make sure future generations will see TKE on their campus, but wee need your help and assistance during this weekend. If you have any questions, concerns or comments, let us know.
