Plan Your Philanthropy

Plan Your Philanthropy

Fraters at Sigma-Psi (Clemson Univ.)One of the critical components of Building Better Men to Build a Better World is instilling a sense of civic duty. Service and Philanthropy are critical to this mission. Since 1899, Fraters have worked diligently to provide these two on their campuses, in their communities, and beyond. TKE has been recognized as one of the fraternal leaders for many of those years and 2010-11 should be no different.

This organization has a comprehensive list of both service and philanthropic opportunities available. The primary partners of philanthropy are the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Alzheimer’s Association. While there are many worthwhile causes both locally and internationally, these two have the seal of TKE and we would like you to help our efforts to ensure their success. To this end, you can find information on how to plan a fundraising event for these at tke.org.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, like TKE, has several chapters across the United States. Each of these individual offices can help you create an event like Four Square, Dodgeball or a similar event. Representatives from those centers can come to you for planning and execution of an event. The St. Jude and Offices of the Grand Chapter staff have worked extensively over the past few years to create a comprehensive event planning guide to ensure immediate success. Find your contact.

Similarly, the Alzheimer’s Association can help provide assistance for your event with dollars going towards their very important research projects. At the 2001 Conclave in New Orleans, the Grand Chapter adopted the Alzheimer's Association as an official TKE philanthropy. The Fraternity has partnered with the Ronald and Nancy Reagan Research Institute, which was established in 1995, one year after Frater Reagan announced to the world that he had Alzheimer's. Since then, TKE has raised more than $550,000 and even more for the local chapter's of the Alzheimer's Association. Learn More.

Service organizations are also in need of your time and energy throughout the year. TKE has a list of those preferred to help in your search process. In either case, service or philanthropy, the important component is that the chapter is out there helping others. Tracking of your service and/ or philanthropy is available on the Membership Maintenance Module. This is vital to keeping accurate records and helps the fraternity find those chapters who go above and beyond to better the world. Each year in The TEKE Magazine chapters are recognized for their efforts.
