Two Fraters Begin their Success Story

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - A few years ago, TKE reported on two Fraters who joined forces to create a site that sought to change the landscape of ecommerce. Today, their efforts have evolved into addoway.com - an online marketplace where shoppers can buy from their friends and the merchants they trust. Scams on the other sites were a big reason Fraters Fred Nijm and Anthony Saia (Beta-Xi, Arizona State Univ.) decided to find a new way for consumers to buy and sell products online.

While the adventure began selling TKE T-shirts and trinkets, they have grown rapidly as of late. They have been featured in various publications throughout North America and have attracted the eyes of others frustrated with the status quo. Addoway focuses on the prospect of using social histories to make buyers and sellers more accountable. To that end, Fred is looking at partnering with online reputation/ influence businesses to allow buyers and sellers to see what kind of "Web Reputation" the other has. Has this person been on Facebook for several years?  How many friends does he/she have?  Have other people complained about this person before?

"We started Addoway because we both got scammed on eBay," said Nijm, referring to co-founder Saia. "I still test out the eBay marketplace every once in a while and get scammed all the time by buyers who complain to eBay that I sold them a bad product and then get their refund but never return the item." He added: "It's going to be a while before all 600 million Facebook members are on Addoway, but we’re trying to promote the transparency aspect. When you're on the site and you’re looking for a seller, you can see the seller’s information, where they’re located, where they’re selling." The two began honing their skills while helping to rebuild and restart the Beta-Xi chapter. The tools and lessons they learned while in college are helping them write a success story today. While there is still work to do, Fraters Fred and Anthony are ready for the challenge.
