Created in 1999, Angelwish is dedicated to providing the public with an easy way to grant wishes to millions of children living with chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, and HIV/AIDS around the world. The charity works on six continents with over 110 hospitals and care centers in the United States and an additional 15 care centers in 9 other countries. Angelwish was founded by Rutgers University–Newark alumnus and TKE Frater Shimmy Mehta, a member of the Theta-Zeta Chapter. Frater Mehta received the 2011 TKE Alumnus of The Year Award for outstanding accomplishments and performance in a person's career or field of endeavor.

"As an executive leader in association and board management; complimented by a long record of success in the corporate banking sectors, Shawn brings a breadth of valuable experience to Angelwish as it addresses the continued development and growth of the organization," said Shimmy Mehta, Angelwish's founder and chief executive officer. "His insight and deep passion for our youth, families and communities are sure to make important contributions to our company. We are pleased he has agreed to join the Angelwish Board."

When asked how he works to ensure Angelwish is so successful, Mehta pointed out that Angelwish achieves its mission by ensuring that 100% of individual donations are used for program services and that those funds are extended, where possible, to incorporate an educational component giving young people a hands on lesson in philanthropy.

Frater Babine's willingness to serve with Angelwish stresses the importance and reminds us all that being Better Men for a Better World requires us to not limit yourself to opportunities within TKE, but to get involved with community and philanthropic causes whenever and wherever possible. "His support as a Frater and friend shows me that TKE fraternity is the fraternity for life," said Frater Mehta.

Babine grew up in Bath, Maine and earned a degree in economics from the University of Southern Maine, masters from Southern New Hampshire University, and advanced degree work at Villanova and Northeastern University.

Prior to his start as TKE CEO in May 2012, Babine served on the Fraternity's Board of Directors from 2009 to 2012, and served briefly as the Interim Chief Executive Officer (2010-2011) while the Board completed an international search.
