Two Big Ten Schools Re-Charter

Two Big Ten Schools Re-Charter

The Grand Council of Tau Kappa Epsilon has unanimously approved the re-chartering of two strong groups in TKE nation. The Gamma-Kappa colony at Indiana University and the Theta colony at University of Minnesota will be the newest re-chartered chapters in Tau Kappa Epsilon.

Founded in 1820, Indiana University has been an academic and athletic leading institution in the mid-west for almost two hundred years. Today, over 32,000 undergraduate students make up the college experience in Bloomington, Indiana. The re-chartering of Gamma-Kappa brings a young group of hard-working and committed Hoosiers to the Mid-West region (Region 3).

In the West region (Region 4), Theta colony at the University of Minnesota will be reviving the Golden Gophers in TKE nation. Founded in 1851, University of Minnesota strives towards research and discovery, teaching and learning, and outreach and public service. The Theta colony is ‘Driven to Discover' the possibilities their group can have in the future.

"Our entire TKE headquarters staff is elated that we are returning to two Big Ten campuses. Our team along with volunteers and committed alumni have played a vital role in creating and working with these groups to this successful point. At the end of the day, it is the hard work of the Fraters on those two campuses that are to be applauded and celebrated. TKE is excited about the potential that both of these groups have moving forward" said Chief Executive Officer Donnie Aldrich.

The Gamma-Kappa and Theta colonies have recruited a combined total of 64 men this fiscal year. Both groups will receive their official chapter status during their upcoming chartering banquets.

Founded January 10, 1899 at Illinois Wesleyan University, Tau Kappa Epsilon is one of the world's largest social fraternities with chapters on more than 270 campuses in the United States and Canada. TKE has initiated more than 260,000 men since its founding. The Fraternity Builds Better Men for a Better World.
