#TekeTuesday - Fraters Rapetski and Wyllie

Welcome to Tau Kappa Epsilon's new #TekeTuesday series. During the course of Teke Tuesday, we will be highlighting chapter and individual success throughout TKE Nation. In the first of our series of articles, we sat down with two men who have been making an impact in their community - alumni Fraters Walter Rapetski and Stanley Wyllie.

Frater Walter Rapetski

Frater Walter Rapetski is a 1982 initiate of the Xi-Upsilon chapter at Rochester Institute of Technology. Walter is well known throughout the hospitality industry for his kindness and passion to help others.

On Saturday, May 17th, Frater Walter Rapetski received the Teacher of the Year award from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in Asheville, N.C. Walter has been a Hospitality Instructor at Asheville-Buncombe Tech since 1998 – teaching culinary classes on the side. Walter was nominated by one of his students because of the impact that has made in the classroom. Frater Rapetski said, "My passion has always been helping students learn and grow, to help them receive jobs, and ensuring their continual success. It's the best thing I've ever done."

Because of his selection as Teacher of the Year, he is also being considered for Community College Teacher of the Year for North Carolina. Walter contributes his success to the Fraters around him. "The network from TKE has made my career. I don't know where I'd be without the friendships and contacts I made," said Rapetski.

Frater Stanley Wyllie

Frater Stanley Wyllie is a 1966 initiate from the Delta-Xi chapter at Miami University. Stanley has served on the Board of Advisors for Xi-Mu (University of Dayton) from 1993 to 2003, and is a regular supporter of the TKE Educational Foundation. In 1991, Stanley was awarded the Alumni Distinguished Service Award from Florida Southern College.

On April 26th, Frater Wyllie returned to Tampa, FL for his high school's 60th reunion picnic. During his reunion, Stanley was inducted into his high school's Alumni Hall of Fame at Hillsborough High School. Hillsborough High School honored Frater Wyllie with this award out of respect for his citizenship and staunch uprightness. Stanley has held many positions in his community, which include:

  • President of Dayton Elks
  • President of the Riverside Seniors – Riverside City Senior Club
  • President of the Sons of the Revolution in Indiana
  • President of the Lions
  • President of the local AARP chapter

Congratulations to Fraters Rapetski and Wyllie. These men exemplify Better Men for a Better World because of their work to serve their communities.
