#TekeTuesday -- Alpha-Tau 75th Anniversary Jubilee

Today's #TekeTuesday features a legacy of 75 years. Located just minutes from the historic symbol of American freedom – the Liberty Bell – Fraters at Drexel University have exemplified the true meaning of scholarship, character, leadership, teamwork, service and brotherhood for three-quarters of a century. From the first day founded to last week’s memorable celebration, the men of the Alpha-Tau chapter have yet to break their stride in being one of the best chapters in TKE Nation.

To share the recent accomplishment of Alpha-Tau, chapter Histor Frater Marcus McNeil took the opportunity to write on the legacy of 75 years in the making.

On September 27, 2014, Tau Kappa Epsilon's Alpha-Tau Chapter held a jubilee to celebrate 75 years at Drexel University, hosted at the Union League in Philadelphia. This event largely became possible with the help of the Jubilee committee headed by Rich Brancaleone AT- 1268 and a combination of the current undergrads at Alpha-Tau.

In attendance were over 150 guests and alumni whose scrolls ranged from 366 to 1925. Some of the attendees who spoke at the Jubilee included the Master of Ceremonies Ray Daikeler AT- 366, who is the oldest living Alpha-Tau chapter member, Bob Holston AT- 349 who gave an incredible opening toast, followed by the Invocation given by Ron Ritter AT- 514. Other speakers included Rich Brancaleone, AT- 1268, John Deckard, TKE Chief Operating Officer, and lastly, current Prytanis Gary Brotz AT- 1921.

As a current undergrad that was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend the jubilee I can contest to the pride and joy I felt for both my chapter and my fraternity. All of the hard work collegiate members had put in over the summer months and the hard work of the jubilee committee had put in came down to one night every Alpha-Tau member in attendance will remember for the rest of their lives.

As John Deckard stated in his speech, "We will remember the last 75 years but focus on the next 75 minutes."

Tau Kappa Epsilon International Headquarters would like to recognize and congratulate every member of Alpha-Tau over the past 75 years. The chapter of a legacy is built on the foundation it resides. Professional photos from Alpha-Tau's 75 anniversary jubilee will be made available in the coming weeks.
