Ways to Get Involved

Chapter Advisor

The Chapter Advisor is the key to a successful undergraduate chapter. His efforts bring stability to the chapter, enhancing the overall fraternity experience. The Chapter Advisor:

  • Ensures that meetings are regularly scheduled and attends at least one meeting a month
  • Serves as a resource for chapter officers
  • Sees that officer transition is completed, so that new officers learn their responsibilities quickly
  • Communicates with the Area Servicing Team, which includes the Grand Province Advisor, Province Advisors, and the Area Director
  • Facilitates a chapter retreat
  • Advises the chapter on all phases of operations
  • Works closely with chapter leadership and the Board of Advisors

Board of Advisors

Each chapter of TKE is incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation. The chapter Board of Advisors serves as the Board of Directors for the corporation. The BOA officers include Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Secretary/Treasurer. Other members of the BOA are the Chapter Advisor, Chapter Prytanis, and Crysophylos. The BOA:

  • Manages chapter real estate
  • Helps plan the long-range future of the chapter
  • Supervise chapter finances
  • Reviews the chapter budget

Grand Province Advisor

The province is headed by the Grand Province Advisor who manages the Province Advisors, coordinates with the Area Director, and conducts a Province Forum once a year. He is primarily concerned with recruiting, training, and placing Chapter Advisors and BOA members. The Grand Province Advisor must be at least 25 years old and is appointed by the TKE Chief Executive Officer.

Province Advisors

Each province has multiple Province Advisors who visit chapters and provide assistance in chapter operations. There can be as many Province Advisors as the Grand Province Advisor feels is necessary, depending on the number of chapters in the service area. Province Advisors must be at least 25 years old and are appointed by the TKE Chief Executive Officer, upon recommendation by the Grand Province Advisor.

Foundation Ambassadors

Membership as a Foundation Ambassador is open to anyone who chooses to play a role in advancing the TKE Educational Foundation and willingly shares their treasure to support its efforts.  Criteria for becoming an Ambassador are: an enthusiasm for TKE and belief in the mission of the TKE Educational Foundation; a desire to communicate with other members ways of engagement and opportunities for support; and are willing to give back so that others can benefit from the efforts of the Foundation. If you have any questions or inquiries about this program please contact TKE Educational Foundation.

Fraternity Committees

Appointed by the Grand Prytanis, Fraternity committees are an integral part of the direction of the International Fraternity. Committees and Task Forces are generally comprised of alumni members, and they are involved in many areas of operations, including:

  • Long Range Planning
  • Recruitment and Retention
  • Investment and Finance
  • Discipline (Grand Court)
  • Expansion
  • Membership Development and Education
  • Judiciary
  • Collegiate Advisory (Collegiate Members only)

  1. Duty to Disclose. In connection with any actual or possible conflicts of interest, an interested person must disclose the existence and nature of his or her financial interest to the directors and members of committees with Board-delegated powers considering the proposed transaction or arrangement.
  2. Determining whether a Conflict to Interest Exists. After disclosure of the financial interest, the interested person shall leave the Board or committee meeting while the financial interest is discussed and voted upon. Board or committee members shall decide if a conflict of interest exists.
  3. Procedures for Addressing the Conflict of Interest.

    2. If, after hearing the response of the member and making such further investigation as may be warranted, the Board or committee chair determines that the member has in fact failed to disclose an actual or possible conflict of interest, it shall take appropriate disciplinary and corrective action, including but not limited to removal from the Board or committee.

Record of Proceedings
The minutes of the Board and all committees with Board-delegated powers shall contain:

  1. The names of the persons who disclosed or otherwise were found to have a financial interest in connection with an actual or possible conflict of interest, the nature of the financial interest, any action taken to determine whether a conflict of interest was present, and the Board's or committee's decision as to whether a conflict of interest in fact existed.

Annual Statements
Annually, each director, officer, member of a committee, and key employee with Board delegated powers shall sign a statement which affirms that such person:

  1. Has received a copy of the conflicts of interest policy,
  2. Has read and understands the policy, and
  3. Has agreed to comply with the policy.

Periodic Reviews
Periodic reviews shall be conducted by the Board to ensure that TKE operates in a manner consistent with its organizational purposes and that it does not engage in activities that could jeopardize its status.

Use of Outside Experts
In conducting the periodic reviews provided in Article VII, TKE may, but need not, use outside advisors. If outside experts are used, their use shall not relieve the Board of its responsibility for ensuring that periodic reviews are conducted.

Accepted: I have read and understood the above Conflict of Interest Policy.
