Frater Jerry Romig Enters Chapter Eternal

The Offices of the Grand Chapter is saddened to share the passing of Frater Jerry Romig to the Chapter Eternal. Frater Romig, 86, passed on Wednesday, December 23.

Initiated into the Grand Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon in 2003, Frater Jerry was asked to join the Fraternity of his son, Past Grand Prytanis, Mark Romig. Frater Jerry was a Loyola University graduate and served in the Army during the Korean conflict.

Frater Jerry Romig is most known for his 44 years serving as the voice of the New Orleans Saints. As the stadium announcer, Frater Romig called 446 consecutive New Orleans Saints games. Frater Jerry Romig was elected to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.

During Frater Mark Romig's Spring 2015 interview for THE TEKE magazine, he recalled many of the special moments with his dad, Jerry. "Dad would take us to the games and we would sit in the booth and just be in awe. We grew up with him calling games for Tulane University's football program on Saturdays and the Saints on Sundays." Mark shared that his mother, Janice, attended every game during the 44-season span with her husband. Funeral arrangements are currently being finalized.
