Before and After Showdown Winners Announced

Before and After Showdown Winners Announced

Beta-Epsilon, Trine UniversityINDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The inaugural Before & After Showdown has it’s first Grand Prize Winner: Beta-Epsilon at Trine University. As many know, housing can be an important part of the fraternity experience. Unfortunately, housing sometimes does not meet our and potential recruits’ expectations. Good housing can serve as a tool for recruitment, retention and lead to a more complete fraternity experience. To encourage maintenance of our existing chapter houses and those chapters who would like to explore potential housing options, the “Before and After Showdown” was introduced.

This event sought to invite active members, alumni, and parent groups to come to the chapter house and donate their time, energy, expertise, and money to improve the existing residence, or fundraise for housing. If the house was in good condition already or there was no want or possibility of getting a house, the day was meant to be spent helping those in the community with housing needs.
Minimum requirements for the event included: checking fire alarm batteries, buying new or checking existing fire extinguishers, and overall clean up of the entire house.
The breakdown of winners:
  • Grand Prize $1000.00 Home Depot gift card
    Beta-Epsilon (Trine University)
  • $100.00 Gift card winner
    Theta-Eta (University of South Dakota)

  • $100.00 Home Depot gift card
    Theta-Nu (Southeastern Louisiana University)
  • $100.00 Home Depot gift card

The Offices of the Grand Chapter congratulate the winners and thank all the groups who participated in the event. All the groups that entered made significant change in their current housing situation and that speaks volumes for the pride these groups have for their house and their chapter.
As a reminder, if you need ideas for potential improvements:
1)      Form a house corporation for meetings on future housing arrangements and Fundraising events for housing.
2)      Spend a day with Habitat for Humanity.
3)      For those with existing houses (rent or own) build a deck, landscape, tile kitchen and/ or bathroom, paint inside and out, add energy saving items, add/ improve life safety items, automatic door closers, fire guard power strips.
