Frater Talbot (Leaders Society) began his Teke career by joining Beta-Chi Chapter at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale on November 18, 1975. He served the chapter as Hegemon, Histor and two terms as Prytanis. He was also Chairman on the SIU Inter-Greek Council which oversaw the activities of all the fraternity and sororities at SIU-Carbondale.  He was selected as SIU Greek of the Year in 1979. He graduated SIU in 1979 with a bachelor’s degree in finance, specializing in financial institutions, and  was selected by TKE as one of the recipients of International Top Teke Award.

After graduation, Rod served TKE as a Chapter Services Director for a year and a half visiting over 100 chapters. He was also chairman of the Investment Committee of the Educational Foundation and wrote the original investment policy statement for the TEF funds. He was chairman of the Investment Committee of the Fraternity from 1989–2005. He has served his home chapter of Beta-Chi as the Board of Trustees Chairman and Alumni Association President. He is also a Life Loyal Teke and a Knight of Apollo.

Frater Talbot is presently Grand Council liaison for the Investment Committee as well as the Chairman of the Programs Evaluation Committee. He has been Grand Council liaison to the Branding, Marketing, and Technology Committee along with being the liaison to the TKE House Fund Committee and the Excellence in Recruitment Task Force. He served as one of the three members to the Chapter Housing Task Force. He was on the CEO and CFO Search Committees. He has served as the Grand Council Liaison to the Audit Committee of the Fraternity. He received the Teke Alumnus of the Year award in 2005 at the Conclave in New Orleans.

In 1999, Rod founded Talbot Asset Management, with the support of Raymond James, with the intent of becoming one of the premier investment advisory firms in Florida.

He lives in Winter Garden, Fla. He is the recent past President of the Rotary Club of Winter Garden. His son Ryan is a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida where he was Prytanis of the Xi-Iota Chapter and received the International Top Teke Award in 2011. Besides economics and the stock market, Rod’s interests include golf, softball, Arena Football and traveling.

Frater Talbot previously served the Fraternity as Grand Hegemon from 2005–2007, Grand Hypophetes from 2007–2008, Grand Histor from 2008–09 and Grand Crysophylos from 2009-2013.
