The Collegiate Advisory Committee, headed by chairman Nat Sheppard (Omicron, The Ohio State University), recommended in 2008 to the Grand Council that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital be adopted as the official primary philanthropy of TKE.
In addition, they sought to encourage chapters to adopt other service projects and philanthropic activities as they deem appropriate. The Grand Council approved a menu driven format to give chapters an option of one or more philanthropy/service activities. The new framework has St. Jude's as the preferred philanthropy and the Alzheimer's Association as a second preferred philanthropy, while MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), White Ribbon Campaign, and the Boys and Girls Club as approved community service partners.

St. Jude, founded by Frater Danny Thomas (Gamma-Nu, Univ. of Toledo), is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility. Its researchers have made discoveries that have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. With research and patient care under one roof, St. Jude is where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do science more quickly. St. Jude researchers are published and cited more often in high impact publications than any other private pediatric oncology research institution in America. St. Jude is a place where many doctors send some of their sickest patients and toughest cases - a place where cutting-edge research and revolutionary discoveries happen every day. They have built America's second-largest health-care charity so the science never stops.

At the 2001 Conclave in New Orleans, the Grand Chapter adopted the Alzheimer's Association as an official TKE philanthropy. The Alzheimer's Association is a national network of chapters committed to finding a cure and helping those affected by the disease. The Fraternity has partnered with the Ronald and Nancy Reagan Research Institute, which was established in 1995, one year after Frater Reagan announced to the world that he had Alzheimer's. Since then, TKE has raised more than $350,000 and even more for the local chapter's of the Alzheimer's Association.

In 1991, a handful of men in Canada decided they had a responsibility to urge men to speak out about violence against women. Wearing a white ribbon would be a symbol of men's opposition to violence against women. With only six weeks of preparation, 100,000 men across Canada wore a white ribbon, while many others were drawn into discussion and debate. The White Ribbon Campaign (WRC) is the largest effort in the world of men working to end violence against women (VAW). In over fifty-five countries, campaigns are led by both men and women, even though the focus is on educating men and boys. In some countries it is a general public education effort focused on ending violence against women.
