The Expansion Process

In 2002, Tau Kappa Epsilon unveiled its enhanced expansion program that is designed to recruit and educate only the highest quality men on campus, through a cooperative effort with the host institution, local community and alumni. The direct and intended purpose of this program is to build a fraternity chapter that consistently ranks in the top 20% of all fraternities on campus in the categories of recruitment, academics, service, campus involvement, and alumni relations. Tau Kappa Epsilon understands that the destiny of any chapter on any campus depends greatly upon the attitudes, standards and values of the initial core group, and support from local advisors. Through our expansion program we pledge and commit the human and financial resources necessary to develop a successful chapter.

The Expansion Team is the on-site field staff charged with finding, recruiting and educating high caliber undergraduates and training the alumni advisory team. This team consists of the Regional Staff of the Fraternity.

Tau Kappa Epsilon makes a determination on a targeted expansion site based on alumni support, local advisor capabilities, the targeted institution’s receptivity, and overall potential for agreed upon levels of success. Once a mutual agreement is made by TKE and the school, the Assistant Director of Chapter Services – Expansion, will formally request a time when expansion is feasible for both TKE and the school. A vital part of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Expansion Program is the concerted effort to work with the school administration and local IFC in the organization of a colony and the integration of the colony into the campus and community.
