UConn Fraters Jam for Autism Research

STORRS, Conn. - The Delta-Gamma Chapter (University of Connecticut-Storrs) hosted their first philanthropy concert Saturday night to benefit the Autism Speaks Foundation, an event that had the entire audience tapping their feet. The event was also sponsored by Coca-Cola and included bands such as Taking October and Paid to Funk.

The Autism Speaks Foundation is an organization dedicated to helping children and adults with autism, autism prevention and research for a cure. The organization is dedicated to bringing knowledge about the mysterious illness to people around the world.

The evening was packed with good music, good people and a lot of enjoyable moments; not to mention that it raised money for a good cause. The bands were talented, hard working and the audience could see they were there for a reason other than just to party.

"Being someone who has worked with autistic children myself, this is wonderful to see," said Kelly Kiernan, a 7th-semester communication disorders major. "It really shows me other people care about the important things, that I'm not the only person who is working for something that matters."

"I thought it was really cool that a fraternity did something like this; I had no idea it was for a benefit, but once I knew that, I was impressed," said Jack Pearson, a 7th-semester biology major. "I didn't think that a fraternity would be so dedicated to helping other people out. I pretty much thought it was all about partying."
