TKE Nation Reaches Historical Marks

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The number of collegiate men initiated into TKE this past year was 3,272, our highest number in a decade. This increase represents nearly a 9% increase over the previous year (our highest percentage increase since 1983), and the raw number increase was the highest since 1991.

The growth TKE experienced came disproportionately from our existing chapters and colonies. 274 more men were initiated from our existing chapters in 2007-08 than in 2006-07 (a 10.1% increase). In fact, the number of initiates from our existing chapters was the highest we have since the mid 1990s, and the largest increase we can readily locate.

Expansion efforts produced numbers below what we typically see from new groups in a given year, due to lack of university-approved expansion opportunities and smaller recruitment results that we've seen in previous years. This gives TKE a great opportunity for the years ahead, in that if we can keep our existing groups growing like they did this year, and couple that with strong new groups coming on line, the aggregate number of men initiated in a given year should continue to rise.
