Frater Goes After Dream, Makes Film Debut

NEW YORK, NY - "It was always my dream to become a screenwriter, but after years of struggle after college just trying to get my foot in the door I gave it up and entered a 'safe' career of computer programming," said Frater Rob Greenberg (Theta-Zeta, Rutgers - Newark). Years later, while working across the street from the World Trade Center, the events of September 11th unfolded. On three months of paid leave, he decided to pick his writing back up and pursue his aspirations.

Two years later, he decided to take the "Kevin Smith" route (known for movies such as Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma and more) and finance one of his screenplays. His company was offering layoff packages, so he left the job, mortgaged his house, and got a cast and crew together (which included some familiar names such as George Wendt 'Norm' from 'Cheers'). Costs got high, but he persevered, and introduced Saturday Morning into the world. After winning some awards on the festival circuit, he was able to get a distribution deal with Vivendi/Universal. He is hoping this leads to many more films. See the movie.

More about the movie

Stepping out of his father's comedic shadow, 28-year-old Joey Piscopo makes his feature film debut as the charming lead in the romantic comedy Saturday Morning, which enchanted audiences at the 2007 Indie Fest USA, taking home the award for "Best Comedy." In the light-hearted fantasy, Piscopo is supported by a cast of familiar faces and rising stars, including "Cheers" regular George Wendt, Howard Stern's stunning wife Beth Ostrosky, Lillo Brancato (Enemy of the State) and Australian heartthrob Louis Mandylor (Necessary Roughness). Saturday Morning made its DVD debut March 10 for $16.99 on amazon.com.

Mild-mannered businessman Wes Selman (Piscopo) is not a morning person, especially on weekends. So, when a home renovation project forces him up and out of the house at the crack of dawn on Saturday, he's not exactly thrilled. Upon stepping outside, Wes is shocked to discover a whole new world - a Utopia of sorts where he can achieve nearly everything, including winning the affections of the woman of his dreams (newcomer Valerie Feingold). The catch? The utopian state only exists for a two hour period, from 6 to 8 am on Saturday mornings. With the help of his worldly best friend Frankie (Mandylor), Wes must figure out how to extend his idyllic romance to the rest of the 166 hours of the week and the solution? It may lie with a mysterious stranger (Wendt) in this unique and unforgettable romantic comedy in the vein of Groundhog Day. Learn more.
