Western Illinois Welcomes Newly Re-Chartered TKE Chapter

MACOMB, Ill. - More than 85 men and women witnessed the re-chartering of the Zeta-Theta Chapter at Western Illinois University over the weekend. Originally founded in 1958, 35 men petitioned the Grand Chapter to be recognized once more as a chapter. The festivities included dinner, dancing and the chartering ceremony led by Chief Installing Officer TKE CEO Frater Kevin Mayeux, CAE.

Fraters Chapter Services Specialist Jim Scovell (Tau, Oregon State Univ.), Associate Regional Director Nate Lehman (Theta-Iota, Northern Michigan Univ.) and Director of Business Affairs Robert Taflinger (Zeta-Theta) were on hand to witness the momentous occasion. On Friday, these men, and the 35 re-founding class members, learned the rituals and traditions of TKE. On Saturday, they capped the ceremonies by holding a Red Carnation Ball with the presentation of the official charter.

Though they had not performed the rituals in the past, the group seemed to grasp everything very quickly. "We practiced all the rituals one time and then they performed them almost perfectly," said Frater Jim. "This was done better than many chapters I have seen. I was truly surprised and elated how together this group was."

The chapter Prytanis (president) Steven Wolski has many goals for the upcoming years and expects to hit each. "I cannot stress how proud I am of how far this group has come and the potential for the upcoming years. I have a goal of initiating 25 men per year and a minimum chapter size of 80. With a little hard work and steadfast resolve, there is no reason we can't become a Top TKE Chapter."

Congratulations to the men of Zeta-Theta Chapter on this accomplishment and for the many more to come in the future. The Offices of the Grand Chapter are proud to recognize the many volunteers, staff and others that helped bring this chapter back on board.
