NYIT Alpha Sigma Tau Wins 2012 TKE International Sweetheart Scholarship

Gillian Fontana 2012-13 TKE International SweetheartINDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Tau Kappa Epsilon Offices of the Grand Chapter is proud to announce the winner of the 2012 TKE International Sweetheart - Miss Gillian Fontana. Another hotly contested final in recent history, this is the Upsilon-Mu Chapter's first representative to be selected. The Alpha Sigma Tau member at New York Institute of Technology was notified earlier in the week about the selection.

"My heart stopped," said Miss Fontana. "I'm super excited and have really wanted this since the chapter told me about it."

A first semester graduate student at NYIT, Fontana studies Communication Arts with an emphasis in PR & Marketing and maintains a 4.0 Grade Point Average. She seeks a degree to become an event planner and owning her own business. Her passion for meeting people and creating relationships first attracted her to this industry. And the ability to have a different challenge each day continues to fuel her desire.

"I started doing this with family functions and carried it over into college. From planning events for Alpha Sigma Tau to Student Government, I have loved seeing an idea come to fruition."

Being a part of Alpha Sigma Tau has been a big part of her personal development since joining. This is also how she was introduced to the gentlemen of TKE. One way the Fraternity has impacted her is inspiring her to be a better person.

"These men have inspired me. I value their dedication and pursuit of commitment not only to the organization but also in all facets of life. Love, charity and esteem are more than just words to me. They are words I hold dear to my heart."

Miss Fontana is a terrific ambassador and the entire TKE Nation congratulates her on receiving this honor. She will be officially crowned at the next Regional leadership Conferences, but will represent us at a number of functions throughout 2012-13. If you would like to learn more about her, read it in the Spring 2012 edition of THE TEKE coming out soon.
