What Does it mean to be a Teke?

What Does it mean to be a Teke?

What does it mean to be a Teke?Being able to explain what it means to be a Teke is not only vital to a successful recruitment, it's also needed for other non-members (such as friends, parents & public). There are many options for college students including other Greek organizations and clubs, so what sets TKE apart? Some say service while others talk about leadership - what about you?

Here are a few responses when Tau Kappa Epsilon posed this question on Facebook & Twitter.
@divineklein: @TKE_Fraternity it means that we should be the role models for our society. #teke4life
@rev_oscar617: @TKE_Fraternity  To be a gentleman of character, love for everyone, and a drive for excellence within yourself and the world. #BM4BW
Kendall Kimber: It means everything to me. It means the lessons learned and friendships gained are well worth the time and effort to be a TKE. It is one great thing that all men should strive for but know only a few will achieve.
@john_russell62: @TKE_Fraternity Everything, being a Teke is my life. I live, breath, and bleed Teke.
Otis Sanders: Some of the best times of my life were the result of being a Teke.
TKE wants to Build Better Men for a Better World, but how has the Fraternity done that? Once more we turned to Facebook and Twitter for your answers.
Mark Henry: If not for TKE I would not be nearly as involved in my community. In addition, it has helped me to be a better leader both within my chapter and in school/real world. My social skills have vastly improved as well.
Jamesneeze Ah Kuoi : TKE saved me from going down a destructive path. My grades were low, my work ethic was lacking and I had no motivation. Now, my grades have improved tremendously, my work ethic is thriving and I have more motivation than ever. I can say without TKE I probably would have dropped out of college and made nothing of myself. It's the biggest headache going to meeting, participating in events, dealing with drama but it's all worth it because the payout is so much greater. I love this fraternity and my brothers in the bond.
Ruben Borrego: Even at my age and my experiences I would say TKE has sharpened my skills as a person with its leadership and its brotherhood... I love you my TKE brothers

The reason we share these with you are both to reinvigorate your passion for the Fraternity and give you some ideas of how others are making a difference. The TKE Nation is both vast and close knit. You may ask yourself, 'how can this be?' Just because something is large doesn't mean it's disconnected. We are all bound by the ideals and principles of Tau Kappa Epsilon - this keeps us together. At every turn, there is a Teke there if you seek them out. That could be at an airport, walking down a street or somewhere in between. Our bond makes us unique and this should be celebrated every day. Keep up the good work and let us know your story for inclusion in a future magazine or news story.
