Kevin J. Campbell Benefit Concert Raises over $2,000

CARROLLTON, GA, August 18, 2013 – The University of West Georgia Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) fraternity, in coordination with its partners The Carrollton Menu and University of West Georgia's (UWG) THE WOLF Internet Radio Station, hosted a benefit fundraiser concert for UWG alumnus Kevin J. Campbell at THE AMP in Carrollton on Sunday, August 18.

Kevin Campbell's was a Guidance Counselor at Central High School and worked with the Youth Ministry at the St. Margaret's Episcopal Church of Carrollton. He was the Alumni Association President and Treasurer of the TKE fraternity a UWG. Kevin passed away suddenly on Friday, June 28, 2013 due to complications from Guillain–Barré syndrome, a rare auto-immune disease. He was 38 years-old and left behind his wife of 13 years, Theresa Campbell and their two sons, eight-year-old Levi Campbell and three-year-old Micah Campbell.

The event featured live music by Carrollton's funk-rock band Snow Cone for President and blues-rock band Mile Train as well as Villa Rica's pop-punk band Come Down Denver. Individuals and businesses from around the community donated gift-cards, services and monetary donations to support the raffle and silent auction as well as several direct donations were made to the family.
 
The event was put together in 4 weeks and a total of $2024 was raised and donated. TKE alumni and undergrads came together for a common cause and at the same time paid tribute to a brother who has served the fraternal chapter continuously for 20 years and plan on creating an annual fundraiser event in his honor.
