TEF Courtyard Ceremony Recap

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. – The Tau Kappa Epsilon Educational Foundation celebrated the Better Men for a Better World Courtyard Dedication Ceremony this past weekend. Over 100 Fraters and friends gathered for an event that celebrated the charity of Fraters and the importance of giving back to the fraternity for a lifetime.

Frater and Major General Charles W. Whittington Jr. shared words about the values of Tau Kappa Epsilon and the similarities it has to serving in the military. The crowd filled outside of the courtyard as the United States and Canada were honored during the celebration. 

Members of the Order of the Shield Alumni Association were in attendance to honor those who have served and who are honored in the courtyard. The TKE Military Monument in the courtyard reads:

"In Honor of

All Fraters Who Served Their Country

In Times of Peace and War

Protecting the Bond We Share."

Venerable Grand Prytanis Bob Barr and TEF Board Chairman Richard "Ernie" Ernest cut the ribbon to officially open the courtyard for public viewing. Walking across the courtyard, bricks read off names of Fraters who have passed into the chapter eternal, founding fathers of specific chapters, nicknames and collegiate catch phrases, and even one brick that read, "For Those Who Are Yet To Join."

The TEF Better Men for a Better World Courtyard symbolizes many of the values and beliefs of our fraternity. The names and symbols capture memories and legacies that will last a lifetime. November 16, 2013 will go down as a day that opened a courtyard that will always bring fraters from across the world together.
