2014 Year in Review | A Guide to 2015

2014 Year in Review | A Guide to 2015

INDIANAPOLIS - Let the countdown begin. In a matter of hours, we will be welcoming in a new year and placing a seal on the year that was 2014. This past year was filled with triumphs and tribulations, worldwide euphoria during the kickoff of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and moments that took our breath away from the shock of #IceBucketChallenge.

A princess in Disney's "Frozen" told us to "Let It Go" and Pharrell Williams let the world know that we can be "Happy." Ellen Degeneres broke Twitter for 20 minutes following a group selfie at the Oscars, Russia held the 2014 Winter Olympic Winter Games at a summer resort in Sochi, and Wikipedia named Tim Howard the Secretary of Defense following a monumental World Cup performance.

And thanks to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social media avenues, the lingo of millennials resulted in Merriam-Webster Dictionary adding terms such as 'selfie' and 'hashtag' to their pages.

Yes, 2014 was quite the year for the world, but it was also a great year for Tau Kappa Epsilon. The Fraternity celebrated 115 years of excellence, announced Donald E. Aldrich as Chief Executive Officer and witnessed the development of the Heritage Center by Frater Dean Bob. Needless to say, we are particularly proud of the chapters and colonies that exemplified the honest convictions of Love, Charity and Esteem.

Now that 2014 is coming to an end, it is the time to prepare for 2015. The Offices of the Grand Chapter has worked to develop programs for the upcoming year that are better suited to enhance the fraternal experience of our membership through personal and professional development. Make 2015 an unforgettable year by taking the opportunity to better yourself by attending a Regional Leadership Conference. Also, do not forget to join thousands of Tekes in the Crescent City for Conclave 2015.

Regional Leadership Conferences - Atlanta, Las Vegas, Indianapolis and New York

  • Regional Leadership Conferences are an opportunity to gain skills to make you a better officer, group leader, and a better man. You will have the chance to meet Grand Council members, TEF Board Members, TKE staff & volunteers as well as additional TKE VIP’s. Take advantage and interact with Fraters from all over your region. You will be able to chat with Tekes with similar challenges to compare what has worked and how further successes can be attained. Click the link above to learn more about the 2015 RLC lineup.

Conclave 2015 in New Orleans

  • The 58th Biennial Conclave will take place August 6-9, 2015 at the New Orleans Marriott. To help Tekes paint the town of NOLA cherry and gray, we need as many Fraters as the Crescent City can handle. Celebrate summer 2015 with Tekes from all over the world. You will not want to miss this event! Click the link above to learn more about Conclave 2015 in New Orleans.

The Gift of Giving

  • Besides attending one of our redesigned, reimagined conferences, make 2015 the year of giving back - giving back to the Fraternity that made you the man you are today. The TKE Educational Foundation works to establish and support leadership training programs, which promote academic achievement and strengthen moral, social and community values. Give the gift of giving and support the TKE Educational Foundation today by making a donation at tke.org/donate.

As said in the 2014 fall edition of THE TEKE, "Don't wait for New Year's, because resolutions are not supposed to just be something you say. They aren't supposed to be easily accomplished for easily forgotten. They aren't supposed to be something you'll do next year. Resolutions are meant to make you take action. They're meant to stay with you and change you. They're meant to make you better than you were last year, and better than last years starts by being better than yesterday."
