TKE Issues Statement Regarding Religious Freedom Restoration Act

Tau Kappa Epsilon's Chief Executive Officer, Donald E. Aldrich, released this statement on behalf of the Offices of the Grand Chapter, headquartered in Indianapolis, in regard to Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

"We are proud that Indianapolis has been the home for TKE beginning in 1961. Since 1899, our fraternity has taken much pride in the diversity and uniqueness of our membership. Tau Kappa Epsilon has never had an exclusionary clause in our membership. Our founders believed, as we do today, in the personal worth and character of the individual, not his wealth, rank, or honor. We take great pride in having members who were and are still advocates of civil liberties. We celebrate all men and women of all races, genders, creeds, orientations, and beliefs who strive each day to make the world a better place. We are pleased to see Governor Pence announced today that he is working with the Indiana Legislature to ensure every person who lives in or visits Indiana is protected from all forms of discrimination. Tau Kappa Epsilon will continue to do business as we have for the past 116 years, in a fashion that is supportive to all and based in love, charity, and esteem."
