Balancing the Checkbook for Conclave 2015
INDIANAPOLIS - New Orleans is set to host the Tau Kappa Epsilon's biennial event for the seventh time in the Fraternity's storied history, and that means Conclave 2015 is set to be an absolutely spectacular event this summer. To help you plan this summer's trip, the Offices of the Grand Chapter created a list of ways to mitigate the cost associated with attending the Fraternity's greatest event. Between the Conclave Savings Plan, Special Projects Fund, and university/college grants, there is no reason why you should miss out on Conclave 2015.
Conclave Savings Plan
Between Conclaves, every chapter is billed $250 four times over the biennium to make up the Conclave Savings Plan. The Conclave Savings Plan helps chapters and colonies offset the expense required in sending at least one delegate to every Conclave. The Conclave Savings Plan is able to grow up to $1,000.
These funds are unable to be transferred to other items and must be used for Conclave expenses. Per Black Book, every chapter is required to attend Conclave, and thus, the Conclave Savings Plan is a perfect item to make Conclave 2015 a reality.
Special Projects Fund
In addition to the Conclave Savings Plan, the Special Projects Fund was established to help chapters and colonies attend educational events and programs like Province Educational Conferences, Regional Leadership Conferences, and of course, Conclave 2015! Please note that Special Project Funds are for collegiate members only. You can access your chapter's balance on the Chapter Module by selecting 'Dashboard.' The Module shows how many men from your chapter or colony have registered, and the balance of your Conclave and Special Projects Fund (example shown below).
Register with a Group and Be An Early Bird
Both collegiate and alumni members have the opportunity to capitalize on special rates based on larger room packages and early registration. Collegiate members are able to punch a ticket to Conclave with quad, double and single rates. Alumni are able to take advantage of single, double and no hotel rates. Please remember, your registration is not confirmed until payment is received in full. If you wish to guarantee roommates, you must register all roommates at once.
Speak with Your School
Contact Student Services, Greek Life Administrators, and/or Student Government. Nearly all institutions have money allocated for student organizations to attend leadership-training conferences. Often times this money goes unused, and can be accessed by asking the question.
