Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2021

Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2021
Today, we celebrate the extraordinary life and vision of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We encourage our friends, family and Fraters to spend time today learning and serving.

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Dr. King's vision of peace and inclusivity changed our world for the better. He left a legacy that continues to inspire today. As we reflect on the progress made to date and an even brighter future, consider... How can you impact the world positively? How will you leave your mark?

For Dr. King, change was achieved through peaceful protest, education and understanding. It was not built on violence, dehumanizing others or through fear - but built upon our common humanity and goodwill for all. Similarly, we are called to exhibit love, charity, and esteem in our daily actions. As we honor Dr. King today, consider exploring the resources below.

TheKingCenter.org | The King Center is making a difference by preparing global citizens to create a more just, humane and peaceful world using Dr. King's nonviolent philosophy and methodology.

TheKingLegacy.org | TheKingLegacy.org provides resources, books and information in partnership with the Estate of Martin Luther King Jr.

KingInstitute.Stanford.edu | Standford Martin Luther King, Jr. Research & Education Institute is building upon the achievements of Stanford University's Martin Luther King, Jr. Papers Project. They support a broad range of activities illuminating Dr. King's life and the movements he inspired.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Papers Project | Martin Luther King, Jr. Papers Project's mission is to publish the definitive fourteen-volume edition of The Papers of Martin Luther King, Jr., a comprehensive collection of King's most significant correspondence, sermons, speeches, published writings, and unpublished manuscripts.

MLK Day of Service | MLK Day Of Service is observed each year on the third Monday in January as "a day on, not a day off." MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. AmeriCorps has been charged with leading this effort for the past quarter-century.

MLKCoalition.org | The MLK Coalition's mission is to strengthen the diverse human community through the promotion and practice of non-violence and understanding. They seek to do this by keeping the memory, ideals and philosophy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. alive through a commemorative program given each year in the City of Cincinnati, Ohio and through other related activities conducted by the Coalition to achieve this purpose.
