Board of Advisors
Role of the Board of Advisors
- Provide guidance, advice, support and assistance to the Chapter.
- Provide continuity for the Chapter.
- Serve as the corporate Board of Directors for the legal entity.
- Direct supervision of all Chapter property and finances.
Duties of the Board of Advisors
- Keep the BOA in existence by holding regular elections.
- Elect Officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer.
- Conduct regular meetings, which should occur at least five times a year (ideally, monthly).
- Coordinate and work with the Chapter Advisor, Faculty Advisor, and Alumni Association President. Working with the Chapter should be a team effort.
- Act as liaison between the Chapter, alumni, the Fraternity, and the school.
- Enforce the International Constitution and Bylaws of the Fraternity, BOA and Chapter policies, and University regulations.
- Fulfill the state legal requirements to ensure the corporation remains active.
- Maintain BOA Bylaws.
Chapter Advisor
Role of the Chapter Advisor
- Ideally, should be a Teke; if not, they may not participate in Ritual events.
- Provide guidance, advice, support and assistance to the Chapter.
- Provide continuity for the Chapter.
- Be available, as needed, by the Chapter and its members.
- Serve as a member of the Board of Advisors. Generally not an officer, and certainly not Chairman.
- Coordinate and work with the Board of Advisors, Faculty Advisor, and Alumni Association President. Working with the Chapter should be a team effort.
- Enforce the International Constitution and Bylaws of the Fraternity, BOA and Chapter policies, and University regulations.
- Advise the Prytanis on matters of Chapter operations. Assist with the areas of Chapter finances (Crysophylos), risk management (Pylortes), membership recruitment (Recruitment Committee); may provide additional support as requested by the Prytanis.
- Serves on the Membership Quality Board.
Duties of the Chapter Advisor
- Assist and guide Chapter Officers.
- Attend Chapter meetings, at least once each month, and Officer meetings as needed.
- Attend TKE educational programs.
- Conduct Chapter and Officer retreats.
- Assist with Ritual.
- Provide guidance in disciplinary issues.
- Assist with membership recruitment.
Faculty Advisor or Campus Advisor
Role of the Faculty Advisor or Campus Advisor
- Does not need to be a Teke; does not need be Greek; does not need to be a male; may belong to a sorority or another fraternity.
- Provide guidance, advice, support and assistance to the Chapter.
- Provide continuity for the Chapter.
- Be available, as needed, by the Chapter and its members.
- Serve as a member of the Board of Advisors. Generally not an officer, and certainly not Chairman.
- Coordinate and work with the Board of Advisors, Chapter Advisor, and Alumni Association President. Working with the Chapter should be a team effort.
- Act as liaison for the Chapter Officers, Chapter Advisor, Board of Advisors, and Greek Advisor.
- Enforce the International Constitution and Bylaws of the Fraternity, BOA and Chapter policies, and University regulations.
- Assist with the areas of academics (Hypophetes), educational programming (Hegemon), member standards (Membership Quality Board), and community and campus service projects (Service Committee); may provide additional support as requested by the Prytanis..
Duties of the Faculty Advisor or Campus Advisor
- Assist and guide Chapter Officers.
- Attend Chapter meetings and Officer meetings as needed.
- Attend TKE educational programs.
- Assist the Chapter Advisor with Chapter and Officer retreats.
