Associate Regional Director

Joseph Gurule
Alpha-Omicron Chapter
New Mexico State University

Responsibilities
As an Associate Regional Director, I am an ambassador of Tau Kappa Epsilon and the Offices of the Grand Chapter. I promote leadership in, and on behalf of, assigned collegiate chapters, colonies, and interest groups. I will be a leader in growing healthier groups. In addition, I will provide value based programming to the chapters, colonies, and interest groups within my region and educate members in the areas of leadership development, academic achievement, volunteerism, business principles, personal life skills, and risk management issues.

About Me
A proud Life Loyal Teke, I was initiated into the Alpha Omicron Chapter at New Mexico State University in 2004, home chapter of Conrad Hilton, Danny Villanueva, and Chapter Advisor Hall of Fame member Gabe Anaya. I served as Histor, Finance Chair, and Assistant RCB Coordinator, as well as Vice President of the Inter-Fraternity Council and Greek Week Chair.

A 2008 graduate of New Mexico State, I obtained a degree in History, and studied music and linguistics. I was Executive Director of Governmental Affairs for the student government, where I successfully lobbied local and state government, as well as congress for several student and higher education initiatives. I also coordinated homecoming activities, performed with the University Singers in France, played in the marching band, enjoyed several intramural sports, served on various University boards and committees, and volunteered my time for Habitat for Humanity and the Catholic Newman Center.

At a statewide level, I served a term as Public Information Officer for the Associated Students of New Mexico, an organization that represented over 200,000 public college students.

I grew up in the town of Grapevine, Texas in the booming Dallas/Fort Worth “metroplex”. When I was 16 I moved to the UFO Capital of the world, Roswell, New Mexico.

What I Like To Do in My Free Time
As a musician, I enjoy listening to all types of genres and styles, playing and making music, and attending concerts and shows, big and small. I have traveled the world and have a passion for travel, and I always have a bag packed ready for the next adventure. I am a sports fan and especially enjoy watching and playing tennis and soccer. I enjoy reading, learning history and geography, watching jeopardy, and socializing. My faith is a main part of who I am, and I have been sighted attending Church regularly and volunteering when I can.
