During his time as a collegiate at Iowa State, Frater Beals served the Fraternity in multiple roles - as Grammateus, Epiprytanis, Recruitment Chairman and Prytanis. In addition, he was selected to serve as the Chairman of the Collegiate Advisory Committee. This role afforded him a position on the Grand Council as the first collegiate representative since The Black Book amendment in 2009 which allowed the CAC Chairman to have a vote on the Council.

A graduate of TKE Leadership Academy XXII, Frater Beals was named a “Top Teke Recruiter” in 2009, “Top Teke” in 2010, and is the recipient of the Bruce B. Melchert and Ronald Reagan Leadership Award from the TKE Educational Foundation.

He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Iowa State's Ivy College of Business in 2010. Since graduation, he continues to be actively involved in the Fraternity, having served as the Epsilon Alumni Association President, Epsilon Board of Advisors Vice Chairman and Treasurer, Great-Plains Province and Grand Province Advisor, and a small group facilitator at Leadership Academy XXVII, XXVIII, and XXIX. Frater Beals will graduate with his Master of Business Administration in Finance from the Tippie College of Business in 2020.

Professionally, Frater Beals is a Director for Principal Financial Group, responsible for business development, mergers and acquisitions, capital structure, and capital planning initiatives. He started at Principal in March 2017. Prior to this role, he worked at Deloitte as an Audit Manager for more than six years. He lends his professional experience to the Fraternity as well, serving as a member of the Fraternity's Finance and Audit Committee. This committee reviews the Fraternity's financial statements monthly under the leadership of the Grand Crysophylos.

Frater Beals, his wife Erica, and son Brooks, live in Urbandale, IA.
