Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Training - Being a Consciously Inclusive Leader

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Training - Being a Consciously Inclusive Leader

When: December 15, 2020 from 9:00 PM - 10:30 PM Eastern

As part of Tau Kappa Epsilon's commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, we have partnered with Frater Dr. Steve Yacovelli (Rho-Psi, Millersville) to host DEI training for our collegiate officers. Dr. Yacovelli will host a 90-minute training entitled, "Supporting Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging: Being a Consciously Inclusive Leader."

This training is required for all chapter/colony officers, as TKE is committed to building a more inclusive and diverse membership.

Being an effective TKE leader takes not just skill but self-awareness: awareness of what we think consciously but also what our unconscious selves may be thinking, too. And in today's climate, we need to ensure that our leadership actions, words, and decisions are done in an open and inclusive manner, despite some biases and stereotypes we may hold.

In this session, we will explore the three areas every TKE leader should focus on in order to be more consciously inclusive. From THINK IN about our own unconscious biases, to SPEAK UP to create a more inclusive chapter, to ACT OUT in ways you can foster a feeling of belonging for everyone within our fraternity (and beyond). You'll leave this session with actionable steps you can take to be a more inclusive leader and make our brotherhood-and possibly the world-just a little bit better for us all.

Dr. Steve Yacovelli is the owner & principal of TopDog Learning Group, LLC, a leadership, change management and diversity and inclusion consulting firm based in Orlando with affiliates around the globe. Frater Yacovelli holds a bachelor's in speech communications from Millersville University, a master's in educational policy & leadership from The Ohio State University and a doctorate of education in instructional technology & distance education from Nova Southeastern University. As a member of the LGBTQ+ Community, “Doc Yock” has spent much of his personal and professional time fostering a consciously inclusive world.
