Staff of TKE - Brett Widner

Brett Widner
Chief Financial Officer

INDIANAPOLIS - In the summer of 2010, a photographer named Brandon began taking photos of thousands of New Yorkers. His goal was to put a face to the image that people had of the different New York boroughs and its inhabitants. As if overnight, Humans of New York became a worldwide sensation.

We looked at the Humans of New York project and realized we faced a similar challenge. Many individuals outside of the Fraternity's immediate points of contact do not truly know who is answering the phone, posting on social media or handling various tasks at the organizational level. For that reason, we are excited to launch a new edition of "Staff of TKE." Every two weeks we will highlight a new individual on TKE's Professional Staff. Each post will include two photos and a candid conversation. Enjoy!

There are three individuals from the Rho-Upsilon chapter on the Professional Staff, which one are you?
I'm Brett, the one that doesn't care about fantasy sports.

But you are known as the golf guy in the office.
CEO Donald E. Aldrich and I play in a lot of events throughout the year. We have been very fortunate to play at some great golf venues over the years, and we've had some success when we team up for competitive play.

What else do you like to do outside of the office?
I like to spend time with my family. My two kids are young and it's great watching them grow up. I was born and raised in Indiana so it goes without saying that I'm a Pacers and Colts fan. And not a lot people know, but I'm actually a UFC fan. My roommate during college was an avid fan. He took me to an event a while back and I've been hooked ever since.

You just celebrated a year on staff. How has that experience been?
The first year was great. I really enjoy the camaraderie of the staff and I enjoy helping individuals and chapters with their finances and any other questions they may have. What I love about our team is everyone does way more than just their job title. We're able to do that because everyone here is so passionate about the Fraternity.

Are you ready for Conclave 2015?
Yes, it'll be my first one. I've spent a lot of time working on the budget and the registration process with Alex Baker. We're looking forward to filling the remaining spots and having a great event this summer.

What's the last word?
It's been great meeting so many successful alumni from around the country and hearing their story of how the Fraternity helped them. Seeing how they give back in their own way is an excellent experience. And if anyone wants to play a game of golf, set it up and I'll be there.

The next edition of "Staff of TKE" will appear Friday, May 15.
