Frater David Towne Appointed Judiciary Chairman

INDIANAPOLIS – Venerable Grand Prytanis Ted W. Bereswill (Gamma-Upsilon, Texas-Austin) announces the appointment of Frater David Towne, Esq. (Omega, Albion) as the new Judiciary Chairman of Tau Kappa Epsilon.

Grand Prytanis Ted W. Bereswill shared, "Frater Towne's lifelong dedication to Tau Kappa Epsilon, his vast experience as a chapter and province volunteer, as Chief Grand Justice and on our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee provides him an outstanding background to serve the Fraternity as the Judiciary Chairman. We are thankful for Frater Towne’s willingness to serve the Fraternity."

Frater Towne assumes leadership of the Fraternity's Judiciary Committee, which oversees all revisions of the Constitution and laws and recommends further changes as it sees fit. Additionally, the Judiciary Chairman advises the Grand Council and Grand Prytanis as to the legality of any proposed amendments to the Black Book, or on any other matter for which they request guidance.

Initiated into the Bond in 1994, Frater Towne served as Histor and Prytanis of Omega Chapter. Following his graduation from Albion, he began nearly 25 years of volunteerism to TKE, serving as Chapter Advisor to two chapters, member of several Boards of Advisors, Province Advisor and Grand Province Advisor. He was previously appointed to the Grand Court, first as a Grand Justice and later as Chief Grand Justice. Most recently, he served as a member of TKE's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Social Engagement committee and on the Alumni Advisory Committee. He is a recipient of several fraternal honors including the Grand Prytanis Key Leader Award and was inducted into the TKE Advisor Hall of Fame at Conclave 2019.

Professionally, Frater Towne earned a Juris Doctor degree with honors from Michigan State University; he has practiced law in his home state of Michigan for nearly 20 years. He is a founder of Commonwealth Law Group, an independent law practice in the Detroit area emphasizing estate planning, civil litigation, and other business and family law matters.

"I believe that service is a privilege," Frater Towne said of his appointment. "To me, the greatest measurement of success in life is the good one does for others. As I have said on more than one occasion, there is no expiration date on the promises made in our Bond, and I am very grateful for this opportunity to fulfill those promises and continue doing good for the members of our Fraternity."
