Foundation Administrative Assistant
Karen is a member of the finance team and she works with both TKE and TEF. Her primary day to day responsibilities include processing and recording payments and donations for both TKE and TEF. She is also very engaged with donors to the Foundation. She spends much of her time working with them to ensure donations and gifts are properly setup and documented. She also pulls and compiles data for both organizations at month end.
I graduated from State University of New York at Morrisville with an Associate’s degree in Accounting. When I discovered that the accounting field was not for me I started work for Huck International (now a division of ALCOA) in Kingston, New York, I was with them for 19 years. I worked as a Production Planner, Shipping Supervisor and Shop Floor Supervisor. My husband was transferred to Tampa, FL and off we went. I enjoyed a few years of staying at home with my sons as we settled into our new world. I returned to work at our Church and enjoyed the difference of working with people vs. the production world. My next job was as a Scheduler at a family owned air conditioning business which lasted until my husband was transferred to Indianapolis. My husband and I are now empty nesters and I had no intention of seeking full time employment, I enjoyed being a temporary employee where I could accept or decline job positions at will. This was very appealing to me as I have one son in Alaska and one in Florida. When I was placed at TKE Headquarters I was amazed at the family atmosphere and totally enjoyed working here. It was a temporary position but when I was offered the full time position I just couldn’t turn it down. Here iss a place that I could enjoy working (and not mind the commute).
What I Like To Do in My Free Time
I spend my free time with my husband of 32 years and our 3-year-old bundle of joy Tasha (dog) and our crazy cat Shrek (who thinks he is a parrot). When I can, I travel to see my sons and my 5 great-nephews.
